Background

St Anthony's Musiso High School, commonly known as "Santos," is a Roman Catholic boarding secondary school in Zimbabwe. The school is located at Musiso Mission in Jerera, within the Zaka District of Masvingo Province. St Anthony's is part of a larger mission complex, which includes a hospital, a primary school, a church, and a nursing college.

History

The school was founded in 1972 as part of the Roman Catholic outreach in the region. The Musiso Mission itself was established earlier, around 1948-49, by the Swiss Bethlehem Fathers (SMB). Since its inception, the high school has operated under the Diocese of Masvingo, maintaining strong ties with the Catholic Church.

In 1985, St Anthony's Musiso High introduced Advanced Level (A-Level) education, marking the first such program in Zaka District. Over the years, the institution has grown in size and reputation, serving students from various parts of Zimbabwe.

Academics

St Anthony's Musiso High School follows the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) curriculum. The school offers:

• Ordinary Level (O Level) programs
• Advanced Level (A Level) programs

The curriculum covers a broad range of subjects, including sciences, commercial studies, building technology, and sports. The school has consistently ranked among the top academic institutions in the district. In 2018, it was recognized as the 19th best O Level school in Zimbabwe.

The school is a full boarding institution. Students live on campus during school terms and go home for holidays. It is part of the broader Musiso Mission, which provides educational, health, and religious services to the community.
