Background

Goromonzi High School is a co-educational government boarding school located in Mashonaland East Province, Zimbabwe. It was established in 1946 during the colonial period and was the first boarding secondary school for Black African students in the then Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). Originally a boys-only school, it admitted female students starting in 1954.

Location

The school is situated in Goromonzi District, approximately 35 kilometers southeast of Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe. It lies along the Harare–Mutare highway and serves students from across the country.

Academics

Goromonzi High School offers both Ordinary Level (O-Level) and Advanced Level (A-Level) studies. The curriculum includes science, commercial, arts, and vocational subjects such as Agriculture, Technical Graphics, and Home Economics. English and Shona are the main languages of instruction. The school has consistently recorded high pass rates in public examinations.

Extracurricular Activities
