Background
Gwanda State University (GSU) is a public higher education institution located in the town of Gwanda, Matabeleland South Province, Zimbabwe. Established in 2012, GSU operates primarily from two campuses: the main campus situated on an 87-hectare site in Gwanda and a satellite campus at the former Epoch Mine in Filabusi. The university was founded to provide accessible tertiary education in the region, focusing on disciplines aligned with the area's natural resources and industrial needs.
Academic Programs
GSU offers undergraduate programs through its two faculties:
- Faculty of Engineering and the Environment: Programs include Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degrees in Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, and Surveying and Geomatics Engineering
- Faculty of Natural Resources Management and Agriculture: Programs include Bachelor of Science (Honours) degrees in Agriculture with specializations in Crop Science and Animal Science.
